JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Deepening climate equity through grassroots interventions, enabling community participation and engaging in city level governance and planning processes.
- Tracking and analysing the impact of climate policies and urban planning frameworks on vulnerable communities. Contributing to advocacy efforts through direct engagement with authorities and various forms of writing.
- Researching and writing on integrating grassroots perspectives into climate and urban policy discussions, covering areas such as city planning, just transitions, local adaptation strategies, and loss & damage.
- Developing popular education material, translating complex climate and urbanisation issues into accessible formats for diverse audiences.
- Engaging with networks, partners, and institutions working on climate action and urban equity.
- Support in organising and facilitating consultation, workshops/trainings at state/national level on the issues of climate justice; liaise with key stakeholders.
- Supporting the development of funding proposals to advance climate justice initiatives.
DESIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is mandatory (e.g., Social Sciences, Environment, Urban Planning, Climate Sciences, Development Studies etc).
- Relevant prior work experience.
- Knowledge of climate change, climate justice and policy.
- Knowledge on climate adaptations in urban poor communities – Biodiversity/Nature-Based Solutions/Ecosystem-based adaptation is an added advantage.
- Strong community engagement skills
- Strong research, writing and analytical skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data from multiple sources.
- Creativity and a passion for generating innovative ideas with skills in visual representation.
- Ability to work independently effectively in a dynamic team environment, with strong outcome orientation.
- Proficiency in mapping tools and documentation software would be an added advantage.

ROLE
- Implementation of greening activities in Mumbai
