Anti Eviction Support Cell

Forced evictions of human settlements are often conducted without any formal intimation whereby hundreds of vulnerable lives are left in deplorable conditions. As a result of innumerable losses faced at the time they often pull families back into a cycle of poverty, leaving women and children most affected. YUVA’s work on human settlements peaked with the setup of an Anti Eviction Support Cell, in partnership with several organisations across the country, in order to prescribe preventive and curative measures for communities under the threat of evictions.

On July 15, 2015, the Anti-Eviction Helpline was formally launched. It ensures that help to communities, under the threat of eviction or after eviction, is just a call away.

The helpline has been able to extend its support to network partners in building capacity to handle situations of forced evictions. We have been able to give strategic guidance, besides conducting training sessions for communities and organisation to learn how to handle forced evictions.

YUVA has also provided case support to various communities in Mumbai, Navi-Mumbai, Surat, Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Kattack, Delhi, Puri, Patna, Ahmedabad and Ranchi.
